Graphical Output

  1. Select File $\Rightarrow$ Export Image $\Rightarrow$ HTML from the alignment menu and save the file as appropriate, then open it in your favoured web browser.

  2. Select File $\Rightarrow$ Export Image $\Rightarrow$ PNG to export the alignment window as an image. Open the file in an image viewer that allows zooming such as Paint, Photoshop or Preview and zoom in. Notice that the image is a bitmap and it becomes pixelated when enlarged.

  3. Select File $\Rightarrow$ Export Image $\Rightarrow$ EPS exports the alignment window. Open the file in a suitable image viewer and zoom in. Notice that the image has a near-infinite resolution because it is a vector file.

  4. Experiment with Jalview’s other export option such as ’BioJS’, which employs the BioJS Multiple Sequence Alignment viewer. Open this file in a browser window. Compare the different alignment views, when would you use the BioJS file?

For more information on this topic go to section 3.2 of the Jalview manual.
